West Kauai Sun Vintage is the clothing department of West Kauai Sun, owned and operated by Kauai Native Dawnyl Maynard, also know as Auntie Pinky. Inspired by the style and clothing she saw on the island of Kauai, she created West Kauai Sun Vintage to bring authentic Hawaiian clothing to the mainland.
Seeking a new start after leaving her long time career in pathology, Aunty Pinky originally created West Kauai Sun, her version of an island plantation store, in Fallbrook, California. This is the home to many island made and inspired products, including hand-strung floral leis and authentic Hawaiian snacks. This store is still open today, but she encountered a long volume of people donating their Hawaiian clothing, wanting their memories to go to someone who cared for their story rather than a thrift store. This is where West Kauai Sun Vintage was born!
We are the SPOT in Southern California for vintage Hawaiian clothing and dresses! While we also some new clothing, we take pride in our curated collection of Hawaiian brands made on the islands of Hawaii or by native Hawaiians. No two vintage pieces are alike, making each one a unique addition to their new home.
Every purchase supports a small, local, female owned business, and we appreciate your support!
Our Guiding Principles
1. Authenticity with Aloha
At West Kauai Sun Vintage, we work every day to bring the most authentic products from Hawaii to the mainland. Often working with local merchants and makers, we try to only have brands made in or by Hawaiians, and brands that align with the true culture of Hawaii and Kauai. While we carry some big-name brands and fun products, we take pride in everything we sell, as everything is hand-picked by Aunty Pinky. We stand by all our products as being sold and handled with Aloha!
Community with Connections
Hawaiian culture is community driven, and we are no different! We take pride in meeting as many of our customers as we can and engaging with you as often as we can! Seeing ourselves tagged in posts and our clothing being shared is not just marketing for us, it is validation our hard work is worth it! Nothing is better than seeing someone find their new favorite dress or shirt with us, and the smile they get when they try it on!
Stories with Spirt
Often after purchasing a piece, guests are taken back to their fondest memories with their family and friends made on the Hawaiian Islands. Sharing stories with each other is how we make memories, and we are proud to offer a space for that to happen in our store and at the many events we do every year! Every piece bought is another story getting an exciting new chapter added rather than ending. We take pride in helping guide you to finding the perfect fit for starting your next chapter!
